Is just a marathon n for the last 2 blocks I had trouble just reading the questions. I timed my breaks every 2 blocks for the first 4 blocks then after every block I had to get up. The exam is long… The last few blocks were exhausting. I reviewed a lil with my study partner n rested a ton. I had been getting scores of around 70% n suddenly the week of the exam I started getting 40% so I stopped studying! I knew I was just panicking. I had a freaking out period the week before the exam. I took one NBME like 2 weeks before the test n I don’t remember the score, it wasn’t too good. Keep checking my blog! I´ll post more about each step! If you have any questions suggestions or want me to talk about any particular subject don´t hesitate to comment below. We eventually became friends and even if we are in different sides of the planet right now I´m really grateful for all her support and for motivating me. After we had read, we just sat next to each other and did Qbank. We commuted an hour 3-4 times a week to meet for 4 hours to read together. It was also a lot easier to have discipline when you are part of a team. She was a great support specially in the last few weeks when I felt like I wasn´t going to make it. My study partner was the most important part of the process. In the end I took the plunge and I didn´t get a great score but I passed with a pretty decent and average 222 so I was relieved. I was doubting and putting myself down and it showed in the Qbank. The scores weren´t showing how prepared I was, just how anxious and scared I felt. I thought I wasn´t ready but I realized I never was going to feel ready. In the last 2 weeks before the test I panicked! Suddenly I went from getting 70% to 45% out of the blue. I took an NBME and I wish I had taken more.( I´ll publish my scores more accurately in another post) My Uworld score was 70% or maybe a little lower. Take notes on important concepts and get ready to fill a few notebooks or write them on your MTB (it has big margins). If you did surgery questions first those concepts are going to start fading if you don´t keep reviewing them constantly. It might sound easier to do questions by subjects, but who said USMLE is easy? And you need to keep all the subjects fresh. Start Qbank early in your study, timed mixed questions. If money is not a concern just do Uworld twice. I would consider doing kaplan for the first few months just because is cheaper.

Inferior quality than step 1 Qbank, and Uworld for step 2 is significantly superior. I can´t even remember the score in the end. For the first 2 months I didn´t get more than 45% so reviewing each block took around 2 hours.Īs I said I started with Kaplan.

Start with 2 blocks of 42 questions and schedule 4 hours for reviewing them. I started with kaplan qbank but if I could go back in time I would just do Uworld twice (read below to read more about Qbanks). And the fourth a quick read on stuff I have highlighted several times. The first on my own the second and third with my study partner (correct me if I´m wrong buddy). (I´ll post reviews on particular books soon) It might sound like too little but don´t overwhelm yourself trying to read tons of different material. Master the Boards all the way! also Uworld Qbank… I bought a couple of other review books to waste my money.

But if you are into this full time you´ll have an easier way scheduling your study time. I was also working 18 hours a week, which split my afternoons and made it tricky to meet with my study partner. I think between 4 and 6 months is about right. For my particular case they were a waste of time… Many people do great on their method and with their material, I´m not saying it doesn´t work. The first 3 I was struggling to get through the Kaplan books. Of the 7 months I studied seriously for about 4. But I pulled it together and after 7 months of preparation I got 222! What a magic number, is not great but significantly better than my 179 of step 1. After barely surviving step 1 I was really scared.
